NJ EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FUND (EOF)
The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) provides financial assistance and support services (e.g. counseling, tutoring, and developmental course work) to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds who attend participating institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey. Undergraduate grants range from $200 annually to $2,650 annually depending on the type of institution and financial need. These grants are renewable based upon continued eligibility.

College-Bound Students Should Apply for Financial Aid Early!
Regardless of income, all students should complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must complete this form every year that they are in college to be considered for financial aid.
1. Get a Federal Student Aid ID - Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use an FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your FSA ID is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents. Apply for FSA IDs at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid .
2. Complete the Financial Aid Application Online - Apply for financial aid online using FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.gov to learn the steps necessary to complete the process. Information from the FAFSA is used to determine if students are eligible to receive federal student aid from grants, loans and work-study programs. The State of New Jersey and New Jersey Colleges also use information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for additional aid.
3. Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) – After applying, students will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR contains the information reported on the FAFSA and usually includes the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is an index used to determine eligibility for federal student aid. Make corrections or changes, if necessary. The schools you list on your FAFSA will receive your SAR data electronically.
All students who are New Jersey residents and who are applying for financial aid at a New Jersey college must read the following section and must complete this information!
If students receive a request for Additional Information for State Aid, it is because they have applied to a New Jersey college and the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (NJ HESAA) requires additional information from the student, and perhaps their parents, to determine potential eligibility for programs such as the Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) and New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Reward Scholarship (NJ STARS) programs.
Students are required to enter the requested information into the NJ HESAA website at www.hesaa.org because this information is no longer collected on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Please note that existing users of this website must login and new users must register in an effort to respond to the questions. Students must respond to these questions if they wish to be considered for State student financial aid whether you are:
· A dependent student
· An independent student
· A Veteran
· A new student
· A returning student
